During National Adoption Awareness Month, we will introduce you to numerous guests, highlighting many parts of the adoption journey. Today’s video comes from our newest RG Adoption Consultant, Simone Hanley. Simone joined the team just a few months and was so excited to be part of our annual series. She is a mama of 2, baker, and in this meditation, she puts her certified yoga instructor skills to good use! Tune in, relax, and set your intentions as we kick off National Adoption Awareness Month.

By Simone Hanley

Throughout the adoption process, I became very aware of the state of my mental health and the true importance of mindfulness. I was able to find peace for a little bit each day because of yoga and meditation.

With meditation, I realized it was a space for me to let my fears fall away and to try and find calm. The major benefit that seemed to help me was learning how to be more patient with the lack of control I had in most things through the adoption process.

Have you taken a breath today?

It is so easy for us as humans to not fully inhale and exhale. Our bodies love to hold in our tension and one of the first things we can forget to do is actively recognize our breaths.

I wanted to create a space for everyone to be able to come and calm their minds for just a few minutes.

Through this meditation I will guide you in a gentle way to come back to…you got it…your breath. It is okay if you have never done any mediation or yoga. This will be easy because you already know how to breathe. All I ask is that you keep an open mind and at least give it a try.

The technique I use through meditation can be used any time, anywhere. So get comfortable and get ready to find your breath again.
